Welcome to the website of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL).

Our Committee with its 60 members is responsible for all employment policy questions and all aspects of social policy including working conditions, social security, social inclusion and social protection.

The European Union faces many challenges like the cost-of-living crisis, climate change, the green and digital transitions, demographic changes and geopolitical instability. EMPL is responsible for protecting workers' rights and their free movement, to promote vocational training and social dialogue, to ensure health and safety at the work place and to prevent discrimination in the labour market.

Our Committee plays a crucial role in shaping policies that ensure a level playing field for citizens and businesses. This in turn encourages sustainable economic growth and social progress, where no one is left behind regardless of their social status, health, or origin.
