As Chairman of the Budgetary Control Committee (CONT), I am pleased to welcome you to our webpage!

The CONT committee has the task to ensure the protection of the EU's financial interests through transparency, accountability and efficient management of EU funds.

Our parliamentary committee work focuses on the annual discharge exercise, a thorough assessment of EU budget implementation by the EU institutions, and primarily the European Commission. In addition, CONT has taken on the responsibility of overseeing more performance-based funding instruments to ensure they allow for sound financial management and effective budgetary control.

The coordination of the EU's anti-fraud landscape is another crucial aspect of the CONT mandate, as well as the adoption and implementation of important pieces of legislation contributing to the EU Budgetary Control Framework, such as the OLAF Regulation, the Rule of Law conditionality Regulation and the Financial Regulation, either on our own or jointly with other committees.

Working closely with other institutions, we maintain high standards of ethics and accountability in EU administration. By striving towards a transparent and accountable EU financial system, the CONT Members and I are committed to enhancing public trust. We invite citizens and stakeholders to engage with our work and help us safeguard the financial interests of all Europeans.
