Next meeting of the Budgetary Control Committee (CONT)

ECA review 02/2024 "The Commission’s rule of law reporting" and special report 03/2024 "The rule of law in the EU" will be presented on 20 March 2024, respectively by ECA Members Laima Andrikienė and Annemie Turtelboom.
On 20 March 2024, the first part of the study "Lessons learned from the implementation of crisis response tools inside the EU" will be presented at CONT Committee meeting.

On 22 February 2024, Marek Opioła, Member of the European Court of Auditors, presented to AFET and CONT Members the Special Report 2/2024 "The coordination role of the European External Action Service – Mostly working effectively, but some weaknesses in information management, staffing and reporting".
On 22 February 2024, CONT Members voted on the draft reports and amendments concerning the 2022 Discharge to European Parliament, Other Institutions and Joint Undertakings.
On 22 February 2024, CONT Members voted on the draft opinion in the form of a letter, to AFET and BUDG Committees, on the Commission proposal to establish the Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans.
On 22 February 2024, the CONT Committee voted on the draft opinion to the BUDG Committee's report "Guidelines for the 2025 Budget - Section III". In this opinion in form of a letter, the CONT Committee calls on the Committee on Budgets to protect the EU's financial interests also in the 2025 budget, and draws particular attention to the need for the Commission to stay vigilant as regards the conditionality mechanism for the EU Budget.
