Mauritania is a solid and priority partner for the European Union in the region of West Africa and the Sahel. The EU’s Global Gateway Strategy and the response to drivers of fragility combining humanitarian-development-peacebuilding will be the focus of a DEVE mission to the country.

Members of the FISC Subcommittee will travel to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, from 26 to 28 May 2025 in order to discuss developments in the area of international taxation and the fight against tax avoidance and evasion. The mission, led by FISC Chair Mr Pasquale Tridico, will meet with Mr Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Mr Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council; and Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuami, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the FNC.

A delegation of seven Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), led by Chair David McAllister, will travel to Uruguay and Argentina from 26 to 29 May. Members will engage in high-level discussions regarding the EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement which was concluded last December in Montevideo, Uruguay. The findings from this visit will contribute to the preparatory work for the consent procedure on the political and cooperation aspects of the Agreement, for which AFET is responsible.

From 26 May to 30 May 2025, an IMCO Delegation will visit Buenos Aires to discuss on cooperation on key policy IMCO areas while obtaining feedback from Argentinian stakeholders and authorities on the issues that relate to the responsibilities of IMCO.

The Committee on Budgets (BUDG) is traveling to Montenegro to look into the implementation of the recently established Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans, ongoing pre-accession support as well as the potential budgetary implications of Montenegro’s possible accession for the post-2027 Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF).

The proposals of the European Commission for the next generation of own resources have been awaiting decision by the Council since 2021 and 2023, and there seems to be no progress.

On 4 June 2025, the LIBE Committee will host a public hearing on Radicalisation online, with a focus on the recruitment of children for organised crime and terrorism. The hearing will look at online radicalisation, including the role of social media and messaging services.

The Committee on Legal Affairs, with the support of the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments (DG PART), is organising an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) on 'Implementation of the Directive on the Protection of the Environment through Criminal Law'. The event will take place on 4 June 2025, from 14:30 to 16:30.
