On 24 June, Members of the Committee on Budgets (BUDG) and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will vote on the Commission proposal, which is part of a package aimed at simplifying EU rules, boosting competitiveness, and unlocking additional investment capacity.

The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will hold a scrutiny debate on the Solvency II Review Directive on Tuesday, 24 June 2025.

The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will hold this year’s second monetary dialogue with the President of the European Central Bank (ECB) on Monday, 23 June 2025, from 15:00 to 17:00.

On Monday, 16 June 2025, from 19:30 to 21:30, Members from the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs held the 19th Recovery and Resilience Dialogue (RRD), with Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President responsible for Cohesion and Reforms and Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification.

On 4 June 2025 at 14.45, ECON Members voted on the ‘Financial activities of the European Investment Bank – annual report 2024’. The draft report welcomes the strategic priorities of the European Investment Bank (EIB) for 2024-2027 and includes a strong call for the EIB to play an even bigger role in addressing Europe’s investment needs and funding common EU priorities. It also reiterates the Parliament’s call for an interinstitutional agreement between the Parliament and the EIB.

On 20 May 2025 from 15.00 – 16.00, ECON held a hearing with the three ESMA Directors that are part of the CCP Supervisory Committee and whose terms of office have been recently extended by the Board of Supervisors of ESMA.

On 20 May 2025 from 11.45 – 12.30, the Director General of Eurostat, Ms Mariana Kotzeva, appeared before ECON for a statistical dialogue. In accordance with Regulation (EU) 223/2009 on European Statistics, Eurostat shall annually inform the Parliament about matters pertaining to statistical governance, methodology and statistical innovation.

On 20 May 2025 from 11.00 – 11.45, the ECON Committee held an exchange of views with Mr Alfred Camilleri, Chair of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB). The exchange was focusing on the ESGAB annual report for 2024. The report provides a historical overview of ESGAB’s recommendations and assessments and addresses the legislative framework governing European statistics.
