Workshops

De workshops worden georganiseerd door de beleidsondersteunende afdelingen en bieden de leden de gelegenheid vragen te stellen aan en van gedachten te wisselen met deskundigen over onderwerpen in verband met de parlementaire werkzaamheden of over actuele onderwerpen. Zij zijn niet noodzakelijk openbaar, maar kunnen tijdens een commissievergadering plaatsvinden.

On 27 June, from 16:30 to 18:30, the Policy Department for Economic, Scientific and Quality of Life Policies organizes a workshop with FISC Members to present two studies: one on the removal of taxation-based obstacles and distortions in the Single Market and another one on the regulation of intermediaries, including tax advisers.

On Thursday, 16 June 2022, the Policy Department for Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs, at the request of the FEMM Committee, will organise a workshop entitled ‘Women and cancer prevention’.

Workshop on EU customs control

The workshop brought together experts and policy makers to discuss challenges related to customs control mechanisms, especially what regards collection of customs duties (one of the traditional own resources of the EU budget). The event was requested by the CONT committee following the persistence of so called undervaluation fraud cases, but the idea was to analyse control mechanisms in the broader context of reforming the customs union.

Environmental crimes have become a wide spread phenomenon worldwide and are widely recognised as one of the most profitable forms of transnational criminal activity. Bringing together a wide range of international experts and policy-makers, the workshop, to be held on 19 May 2022, 14.00-16.30, will seek to identify existing gaps in policy and legal responses, and generate debates about how the identified gaps can be filled.

On 17 May 2022, the the Policy Department for Citizens Rights and Constitutional Affairs will organise a workshop on "The Principle of primacy of EU law in the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Courts of Member States" for the JURI Committee.

During the event Members listened to the presentation of the final study on "Single Audit Approach - Root Causes of the Weaknesses in the Work of the Member States’ Managing and Audit Authorities" by CSES authors, Jack Malan and Marta di Mauro. The workshop also included the participation of representatives from two Member States that contributed with information about the perspective of a single audit approach in their countries.

On 15 March 2022, the Policy Department for Citizens Rights and Constitutional Affairs organised a workshop on "Better Regulation" for the JURI Committee.

The workshop’s aim was to inform DEVE Members on the ways and modalities of financing of development under the European Financial Architecture for Development (EFAD). It took place on 7 February 2022.

The Committee on Budgets held a workshop on gender budgeting to take stock of its practical implementation. The speakers presented concrete experiences made in this field by the Commission and national administrations, as well as the requests by the International Women Alliance in this regard. The workshop gave Members the opportunity to acquire further knowledge to continue promoting gender budgeting in European Parliament co-legislator activity.

The purpose of this training, that took place twice on 14 and 21 Jan 2022, is to provide MEP assistants and advisors working on the Fit for 2030 package with technical knowledge on how to construct and present amendments to amending acts in the AT4AM system.

On 10 January, from 13:45 to 15:45, the Policy Department for Economic, Scientific and Quality of Life Policies organizes a workshop with FISC Members to present a study on the "development of potentially harmful tax practices and harmful competition in the area of personal income tax and wealth tax" and a study on the "evaluation of the anti-tax avoidance and evasion measures introduced in the recent years (mainly ATAD and DAC)".
